Chrischun’s Corner – TREATMENT ROOM ETIQUETTE

Etiquette is defined as the customary code of polite behavior in society among members of a particular profession or group. In the aesthetic world the goal is to create a professional, hygienic and client focused environment. We must be mindful of building a calm environment to cultivate trust and ensure safe, effective treatments,

Etiquette always begins with simple courtesy and good manners. What is considered good manners, you might ask? Let’s break that down. Making eye contact, offering a warm greeting, listening attentively, and giving your client your undivided attention are just a few at the top of my list. These are all things that believe it or not can help increase your bottom line. A client buys into you before they ever commit to a service or purchase.

A few other areas that you as the professional should focus on are Professionalism and Appearance. Make sure you have a neat appearance. Wear clean uniforms, pull your back if it tends to get in the way, practice good personal hygiene, maintain a clean treatment room and be on time! Next up is Client Interaction and Communication. Be sure to listen intently, explain procedures and obtain consent, tune in to non-verbal cues like body language and maintain conversational boundaries. Last but not least on the list is Privacy and Confidentiality. Handle the client’s information discreetly. Get permission before filming or taking pictures. Also limit distractions, silence your phone etc.

If I could leave you with one key take away it would be to be consistent in applying these etiquette principles. They help build staff trust, enhance client satisfaction, and uphold the med spas or clinics reputation as a safe professional and relaxing environment. Until next time, be you, be great, and be inspiring.

Aesthetically Yours,
Chrischun Marie
