Chrischun’s Corner 103 – THE VALUE OF CONTINUING EDUCATION

THE VALUE OF CONTINUING EDUCATION

What is one of the number one drivers for career growth, you might ask? I’m glad you are curious, so let’s discuss. Continuing education is definitely a major key. It is vital in wellness and aesthetics for maintaining competitive skills, ensuring client safety, and staying current with rapid industry innovations. It expands the practitioner’s expertise in areas like advanced laser procedures, body sculpting and skincare technologies. This not only drives career growth but also meets mandatory licensure requirements.

Some of the key reasons for Continuing Education are safety and compliance. Where you learn the latest protocols, regulations and safety standards. Also industry trends is another key reason, one must stay abreast of new technologies, products, and techniques to keep services relevant. Let’s not forget how important improved client results are. Advanced knowledge allows practitioners to offer more customized solutions, leading to higher client satisfaction.

Regularly updating skills can keep you in high demand. It’s about keeping your edge sharp in a competitive market to meet clients evolving concerns and expectations. Continuing education is also about networking and professional growth. During courses and industry events you get to connect with peers, hear their triumphs and disappointments, which gives you further insight. It can also lead to partnerships and future collaborations.

If I could leave you with one take away, it would be to embrace the unknown. Continuous education helps you adapt and innovate. Staying current is directly linked to your success!

Chrischun Marie

Chrischun’s Corner – TREATMENT ROOM ETIQUETTE

Etiquette is defined as the customary code of polite behavior in society among members of a particular profession or group. In the aesthetic world the goal is to create a professional, hygienic and client focused environment. We must be mindful of building a calm environment to cultivate trust and ensure safe, effective treatments,

Etiquette always begins with simple courtesy and good manners. What is considered good manners, you might ask? Let’s break that down. Making eye contact, offering a warm greeting, listening attentively, and giving your client your undivided attention are just a few at the top of my list. These are all things that believe it or not can help increase your bottom line. A client buys into you before they ever commit to a service or purchase.

A few other areas that you as the professional should focus on are Professionalism and Appearance. Make sure you have a neat appearance. Wear clean uniforms, pull your back if it tends to get in the way, practice good personal hygiene, maintain a clean treatment room and be on time! Next up is Client Interaction and Communication. Be sure to listen intently, explain procedures and obtain consent, tune in to non-verbal cues like body language and maintain conversational boundaries. Last but not least on the list is Privacy and Confidentiality. Handle the client’s information discreetly. Get permission before filming or taking pictures. Also limit distractions, silence your phone etc.

If I could leave you with one key take away it would be to be consistent in applying these etiquette principles. They help build staff trust, enhance client satisfaction, and uphold the med spas or clinics reputation as a safe professional and relaxing environment. Until next time, be you, be great, and be inspiring.

Aesthetically Yours,
Chrischun Marie

Devices to Dollars Episode 2

The discussion focused on the evolving strategies of U.S. Fit Clinic as it transitions from a weight loss emphasis to addressing cosmetic concerns related to weight loss, such as skin sagging. Jason Holmes highlighted the importance of understanding client goals and effectively communicating the value of services offered.

He noted that as the clinic gains experience and case studies, they are better equipped to handle client objections regarding affordability, offering various financing options to cater to a diverse clientele. The conversation also underscored the significance of honesty in marketing, with Jason advocating for setting realistic expectations to foster patient relationships and referrals.

Max Bolton and Jason Holmes emphasized a personalized approach to service packaging, tailoring offerings to individual client needs and goals. They discussed the necessity of distinct roles within the aesthetic service process, allowing consultants to focus on client interactions while treatment providers deliver services. Jason provided practical marketing advice, suggesting a starting budget of $100 per day to generate leads and the importance of adapting strategies based on performance metrics.

Additionally, strategies for improving appointment attendance were shared, including collecting deposits and implementing tighter scheduling practices. Jason also mentioned the potential for exploring membership models in the future, despite the current clinic structure not supporting such a system.

Chrischun’s Corner: Setting the client’s expectations

Why is setting an expectation upfront so important, you might ask? The simple answer is so everyone is on the same page. Be sure to discuss goals and lifestyle. Talk about specific goals, exercise, and eating habits. Key in on any history of significant weight changes. We want to clarify the distinction between contouring and weight loss. The primary expectation to set with the client is that body contouring is a sculpting tool, not a weight loss solution. Body contouring is for refining the body shape and addressing localized fat pockets and loose skin that resist diet and exercise. While weight loss is about reducing overall body mass.

The ideal candidates for body contouring are already near their goal weight or have stabilized their weight loss. If the patient is still significantly overweight and is not on any type of weight loss journey, the procedures are not as effective.

Body contouring is by no means a replacement for weight loss. It is very important that this is communicated. While some fat is removed, it is not an effective method of significant weight reduction. Weight gain after a procedure can diminish the results. Clients should also understand that non-invasive treatments produce subtle results that appear gradually over several weeks or months as the body processes and eliminates fat cells. The explanation of these types of issues can be used to keep the client on track nutritionally as well as lifestyle wise outside the treatment room.

If I could leave you with one key take away it would be to under promise but over deliver! You can never go wrong this way. It’s a win win. Until next time, be you, be great, and be inspiring.

Aesthetically Yours,
Chrischun Marie
